greyson descends from the sky with all the pizazz of wet-blanket. so used to the endeavor now, he hardly wants to make a spectacle. the delphox at his side gives something of a look to freya morningstar that's challenging, but she wanders off shortly after to do her own thing.

around the gym-leaders wrist is a comfey, one that's a purple so dark, it's nearly black. the look it gives the dragoness is equally challenging, in an adorable, murder-baby type way.

"freya morningstar?" he poses the question with a half, nervous smile, as he approaches. "Greyson Connors. it's a pleasure." he extends a hand to prove as much.

she hasn't had the pleasure to meet greyson, but it's been on her to-do list. she's continuing her gym cycle. with one measly badge at her disposal, she's nothing to write home about right now. but she'd eyed greyson's gym before alexei responded back to her request. 

"yes. and greyson connors, i presume? a pleasure as well." she offers a wan smile, but no more than that. the comfey on his wrist unnerves her, but other than a flick of her gaze, she hides her discomfort well enough. 

"miss robinson states her haxorus are in need of immediate attention. they haven't taken meals in some time and she hasn't been able to check their wounds, nevermind give them potions." she walks, pauses to wait for him to walk with her, and travels up the gravel road that will eventually bring them to the woman's house. 

"i would advise you return your comfey to its ball before we meet the dragons," she says with a raise of her brow.

greyson can't help but wince under the suggestion, and follow on inspection. he knew this was coming, but still...

"sorry, i can't. i'm trying to teach it... empathy. it's a bit lacking where its cousins excel." he casts an apologetic smile, but shows no signs of wavering, "rest assured, this won't be an issue."

she frowns and looks back down at the discolored creature. this time, her disdain shows on her face. she wants to argue, and opens her mouth to do so, but the house comes into view. or, well, the small cottage. and before she can even think about approaching the door, it swings open and a woman waves cheerfully at them. 

"oh, thank you both for coming!"

freya shifts the parcel of medicine under her other arm and smiles brightly. 

"our pleasure, miss robinson. you said it was one haxorus and two fraxure over the phone?" freya says, answering greyson's question while affirming her own knowledge. 

"yes, that's right. right this way."

he didn't know much about freya morningstar; former councilwoman, unknown relationship with FERNANDO SILPH. so, he couldn't help but be slightly offended at her look of disgust.[break][break]
"how are their temperaments?" he asks, already looking for pokeballs among his belongings. this was his specialty, after all.

"they're..." the woman starts, faltering, and then she looks helplessly back at the two of them. as they round the little cottage, the full extent of their troubles makes itself known. the woman's entire garden and backyard have been torn apart. what looks like it was probably once a shed is in splintered shambles. 

for now, the large beast lay coiled on its side, tail and arms wrapped protectively around its young. dark brown eyes stare unwavering at the approaching party. 

"hungry," freya finishes as she sweeps her eyes over the dragon. its scales are dull, tail thinner than a beast its size, and the blades that protrude from its snout are dull and chipped - a sure sign that the dragon doesn't have the energy to take care of itself. 

"where is the wound?" she asks. 

"on her leg, i think. she wouldn't let me look at it and i tried anyways and, well, you saw how that went."

freya sets the parcel down and looks gently at her. "we'll take care of her. you should stay out here, for now. and be calm. so she knows you trust us." and then she looks at greyson.

"they're usually docile, in the loosest sense of the term, but they can be very, very territorial. we'll have to do a lot of convincing that we're not here to hurt her young."

he nods along, strictly business. they had their specialties, and while greyson was confident he could subdue this dragon and her young, and then administer the aid they needed — that left a sour taste in his mouth.

he releases behind him a number of comfey — one for each dragon — and they float harmlessly being him, mewing curiously at the dragons, and at freya morningstar.

"you're the expert here, so i'll follow your lead."

and a lot of convincing means not reaching for the pokeballs she has on her person, no matter how badly she wants the extra protection, should things go south quickly. if anything does happen, she'll reach for her dragonair first, as they'll be the least threatening to the mother and her ilk. 

she sighs when greyson releases several more comfey. "she may feel threatened by their aura," she says. the haxorus raises its head, tongue forking out of its mouth. her tail flexes, curling tighter around the fraxure, both of which appear to be asleep. 

freya walks slowly down the garden path (or what was once a garden path), stepping neatly over debris. she pauses quickly after when a low growl thrums in the dragon's throat. and she sits - slowly, gently. 

"we're not here to hurt you," she says and then hums lowly.

"then convince them otherwise," he says with a bit of impatience, "this is their best chance at survival. i want to do it right, but their life takes priority over their feelings."[break][break]
he feels bad about snapping at her, but it was the truth. if he had to do this by force, he would, especially if it meant they were to live.

she would argue that the medicine in her hands is the best chance at their survival, but she holds her tongue, if only because stoking tempers here and now will only put her more on edge. no, she'll have to work with it, even if their presence makes the job needlessly difficult. 

her humming grows louder after he speaks and she watches the dragon patiently. that curled tail slackens, barely noticeable. so freya waits, and continues to hum. it's only when the dragon gives her a long blink that she stands, dusts off her back, and take another couple of steps forward. 

"that's it, girl. don't mind them." the haxorus snorts and her tongue flicks out again. greyson and his comfey are following; the wind shifts, carrying their perfumed scent toward the dragon. 

she startles and her tail slaps against the ground. freya lowers herself down, palms out. 

another forceful couple of hums and she relaxes, but her fraxure have now woken up.

the fraxure shake out their sleepy stupor, wide eyes peering up over the their bladed tusks. their curiosity is peaked, at least, one of theirs is.

the other, a female from the way her tusks are smaller than the other, is more sheepish, more nervous. she hides behind her sibling, afraid to look at the newcomer. instead, her gaze shifts over towards Greyson Connors and his fleet of comfey, eyes widening further.

tentatively, she makes a few steps in his direction.

the male is a little more bold. he knocks his tusk into his mother's. sparks fly and he growls - not a hum, but a low warning growl. they're older than most nestlings, already well into their second evolution, but that's not abnormal for dragons raised in captivity. it would also explain why they - especially the male - doesn't lash out at their encroaching upon its territory. 

freya reaches into the bag at her hip and withdraws a poffin. she breaks it in half and holds out a hand to greyson, not watching and not seeing the other fraxure tottering towards him. 

she tosses the poffin and the male fraxure snorts, lowers his head, and glowers at her. she drops her gaze, hanging her head, going small. gravel crunches, dirt kicks up, and she freezes, waiting to leap out of the way, only a few beats later the tell-tale crunch of dragons' teeth ripping apart food is music to her ears. 

the haxorus, at last, has relaxed well enough that she lay back on her shoulder, harumphing gently. 

"be careful still. i have another poffin if we need it. we'll need to keep the fraxure calm while we work on their mother."

unlike the male who is bold, and terriortial, the female is curious and open. she approaches greyson, eyeing ellie, his comfey, as she floats nearby, a cobalt spec that mews in equal amusement.

greyson watches the two interact, wary, but respectful. their interaction seems innocent enough, despite the typing difference, so he peels his gaze up in freya's direction.

"say when," is all he says in response, tone calm, placid as a morning lake.
